We will be publishing the budget details soon.<\/p>\n<p>Here are the final statistics on attendance:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>205<\/strong> tickets were either sold or handed out (including tickets for photographers, videographers and sponsors)\n<ul>\n<li><strong>123<\/strong>\u00a0were regular tickets<\/li>\n<li><b>66<\/b>\u00a0were student tickets<\/li>\n<li><strong>3<\/strong>\u00a0bought micro sponsorship tickets<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>184<\/strong> persons attended the event<\/li>\n<li><strong>7<\/strong> organizers worked together for <strong>6<\/strong> months to plan and prepare<\/li>\n<li><strong>17<\/strong> volunteers worked as a team during the event, and for <strong>two weeks<\/strong> prior<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We had a total of <strong>11 speakers<\/strong>, with:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong> 6<\/strong> long talks,<\/li>\n<li><strong> 4<\/strong> lightning talks<\/li>\n<li><strong>1<\/strong> panel discussion, and<\/li>\n<li><strong>The keynote speech<\/strong>, by Takayuki Miyoshi, developer of Contact Form 7<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Out of the <strong>11<\/strong> speakers, <strong>6<\/strong> were from Sri Lanka, and <strong>5<\/strong> flew in from these countries:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>United States<\/li>\n<li>South Africa<\/li>\n<li>India<\/li>\n<li>Bangladesh<\/li>\n<li>Japan<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>That makes for <strong>54%<\/strong> local speakers.<\/p>\n<p>A big <strong>Thank You!<\/strong>\u00a0to all participants, sponsors, speakers, organizers and volunteers for making this event a celebration to be remembered!<\/p>\n<p>The immediate feedback we received about our sessions, our punctuality, lunch, snacks and after party was very positive, but the organizers have identified imperfections and begun working on them.<\/p>\n<p>As for statistics, we must remind ourselves of something important. Numbers are only a cursory indication of the response. The only factor that defines a good WordCamp is the quality of interaction that takes place during Q &amp; A sessions, at lunch, at tea, at the after party and on Twitter. At the moment, we do not have a panel of judges dedicated to assess this. In fact, we participants are the judges ourselves!<\/p>\n<p>Our immediate priority after WordCamp Colombo 2017 is to capitalize on the positive buzz and carry on building our community through a bottom up approach. This implies a lot of new and interesting meetups, and we want to bring more members on board.<\/p>\n<p>Do <a href=\"https:\/\/www.meetup.com\/Colombo-WordPress-Meetup\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">join our meetup group<\/a> to be part of the growth. If you are new to WordPress, you will discover a lot of knowledge and establish new friendships that could last a lifetime.
